Vérité — La MuseLa Muse2014
Vérité's Merlot-based cuvée, modelled on Pomerol but made from Sonoma fruit. Pierre Seillan blends from over 50 individually vinified micro-crus across four appellations, with La Muse drawing primarily from the warmer eastern Sonoma sites where Merlot develops its richest texture. The 2014 was a strong California vintage with warm, even conditions and the wine carries the estate's typical combination of density and polish. Seven vintages of Vérité have scored a perfect 100 from Robert Parker.

About This Producer
Jess Jackson, already the founder of one of the largest family-owned wine companies in the US, met Pierre Seillan at VinExpo in Bordeaux in 1995. Jackson asked Seillan if he could make a Merlot as good as Pétrus in Sonoma County. Seillan's response: "Why not better?" Seillan moved his entire family from France to California in 1997 and produced his first vintage in 1998, a difficult El Niño year with heavy rain. Despite the tough conditions, Robert Parker called it one of the best Northern California reds he had tasted. Seillan had previously spent over 25 years making wine across eight Bordeaux appellations for the Quancard family, and his blending experience became the foundation of Vérité's approach.
