Coche-Dury
The King of Meursault
Est. 1920
About the Estate
Coche-Dury is universally regarded as one of the two or three greatest white wine producers in Burgundy. The wines are defined by vibrant acidity, mineral purity and the kind of persistence on the palate that most domaines never achieve. Even the Aligoté and village Meursault command prices that rival other estates' grand crus. Léon Coche established the estate in the 1920s. His grandson Jean-François took over in 1973, joining his father Georges at just 14 years old. In 1975, he married Odile Dury, merging two families' vineyard holdings into the domaine as it exists today. Over the following decades, Jean-François quietly built Coche-Dury into one of the most sought-after names in wine, with allocations becoming nearly impossible to secure. Son Raphaël and daughter-in-law Charline assumed management in 2010 and continue the same minimal-intervention approach.

Vineyard Location

Terroir
9 hectares across Meursault, Corton-Charlemagne, Puligny-Montrachet, Auxey-Duresses, Monthelie and Volnay. Premier cru holdings include Perrières, Charmes and Genevrières in Meursault, plus 0.34 hectares of Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru from vines planted in 1950. Yields are naturally low and the winemaking is minimal: indigenous yeasts, long lees ageing, and very little new oak.
