Château FigeacChâteau Figeac2010
Figeac is the outlier of Saint-Émilion: while most Right Bank estates lean on Merlot, Figeac's blend is roughly 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc and 30% Merlot, grown on deep Günzian gravel more typical of the Médoc. This gives the wine a Pauillac-like structure rare on the Right Bank. The 2010 is a benchmark vintage here: black cherry, cassis and violet, with concentrated tannins and bright acidity. Promoted to Premier Grand Cru Classé A in 2022. Drink from 2025 through 2050.

About This Producer
Figeac's history stretches back to a 2nd-century Gallo-Roman villa. The modern estate took shape in 1892 when Henri de Chevremont purchased the core 54 hectares, and the Manoncourt family has run it ever since. Thierry Manoncourt, who took charge in 1947, elevated the estate into the front rank of Saint-Émilion. In 2022, Figeac was promoted to Premier Grand Cru Classé A. Unlike most Right Bank estates, Figeac grows equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc (35% each), planted on deep Günzian gravel that gives the wine a structure more typical of the Left Bank.
