About This Producer

Figeac's history spans nearly two millennia. The estate's name comes from an ancient Gallo-Roman villa established here in the 2nd century AD. By the late 18th century, the Figeac property covered roughly 200 ha, but it was subdivided through sales in the 19th century. The modern Château Figeac emerged in 1892, when Henri de Chevremont purchased the core 54 ha estate; his descendants, the Manoncourt family, have stewarded Figeac ever since. Thierry Manoncourt, who took charge in 1947, is credited with elevating Figeac into the front rank of Saint-Émilion estates through innovative viticulture and a commitment to scientific progress. Under his leadership (which lasted until 2010), Figeac maintained its unique grape mix and terroir-driven style. In 2022 the estate's excellence was affirmed by promotion to Premier Grand Cru Classé A, one of only two châteaux at this highest level in Saint-Émilion. Today, Figeac remains family-owned (with Thierry's widow Marie-France and their children involved) and continues to modernize – including new cellars completed in 2021 – while honoring its long heritage.
