Pierre Duroché took over this fifth-generation family estate in 2005 and quickly became one of Gevrey's most talked-about vignerons. He eliminated herbicides, reintroduced horse ploughing on sensitive parcels, and stopped selling fruit to négociants. En Champ is a village-level wine that punches well above its weight: perfumed dark berry and violet, sleek texture, stony minerality and refined tannins. The 2016 vintage has the structure to continue developing through 2030.
