Aldo ConternoBarolo Riserva 'Granbussia' 2008
Granbussia is Aldo Conterno's flagship wine, only produced in top vintages and aged for 6+ years before release. It blends fruit from their three best Bussia vineyards (Romirasco provides roughly 70% of the blend) and represents the pinnacle of the estate's style. The 2008 is a cooler vintage that gave Nebbiolo great structure and perfume: dark cherry, rose petal, leather and sweet spice, with firm tannins that are still unwinding. This wine has serious aging potential through 2040.

About This Producer
The Conterno family has been making wine since the 19th century, bottling their first Barolo Riserva in the 1920s. After military service in Korea, Aldo returned to the family estate in 1961 when his father Giacomo handed it to his sons. In 1969, disagreements with brother Giovanni led Aldo to buy the Favot farm in Bussia and establish Poderi Aldo Conterno. The first commercial Gran Bussia was the 1971 vintage. Aldo passed in 2012; sons Franco, Stefano and Giacomo now run the 25-hectare estate.
