Chateau de BeaucastelChateauneuf du Pape2010
Beaucastel is the only estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape that grows all 13 permitted grape varieties, and the Perrin family has farmed biodynamically since 1974. The 2010 is one of the great vintages here: full-bodied with concentrated black fruit, warm spice and garrigue, but balanced by the fresh acidity that Beaucastel's high Mourvèdre proportion (around 30% of the blend) brings. Still tightly wound with years of development ahead.

About This Producer
Pierre de Beaucastel purchased vineyards in Coudoulet in 1549. In 1909, Pierre Tramier bought the estate and replanted after phylloxera. Jacques Perrin transformed it into a global icon by pioneering organic farming in the 1950s and biodynamic viticulture in 1974. Wine Spectator named the 1989 vintage its Wine of the Year. The estate is now in its fifth generation and is a member of Primum Familiae Vini.
