Domaine LeflaivePuligny-Montrachet 'Les Pucelles'2009
Les Pucelles is one of Puligny's greatest premier cru vineyards, sitting just above Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, and Leflaive's 3.07-hectare holding is the largest in the climat. The domaine converted to biodynamics in 1997, the first major Burgundy estate to do so. The 2009 is a warm vintage that gives this wine real richness (orchard fruit, white peach, a hint of honey), but Leflaive's winemaking keeps the mineral line clean and the finish long. Drink now through 2028.

About This Producer
Joseph Leflaive established the domaine in the 1920s after replanting phylloxera-ravaged vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet. His granddaughter Anne-Claude took control in 1990 and made the visionary decision to convert entirely to biodynamics by 1997, making Leflaive the first major Burgundy estate to do so. The estate holds parcels in four grand crus (Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet and Bienvenues-Bâtard) and top premier crus including the Clavoillon monopole. Anne-Claude passed in 2015; nephew Brice de La Morandière now leads.
