Domaine Leflaive
Puligny’s Grand Cru Pioneer
Est. 1920
About the Estate
Leflaive is the benchmark of white Burgundy. The domaine holds parcels in four Puligny grand crus and was the first major Burgundy estate to convert fully to biodynamics, completing the transition in 1997. Joseph Leflaive established the domaine in the 1920s, replanting phylloxera-ravaged vineyards and bottling under his own name by 1920. After Joseph's death in 1953, the estate passed through the family until granddaughter Anne-Claude Leflaive took control in 1990. Anne-Claude's leadership was transformative: she drove the biodynamic conversion and elevated Leflaive to legendary status alongside cousin Olivier. After Anne-Claude's passing in 2015, her nephew Brice de La Morandière took the helm, continuing the family's four-generation commitment to terroir and sustainability. The estate now covers 24 hectares.

A journey through time, celebrating the moments that defined our legacy
Post-Phylloxera Rebirth

Biodynamic Pioneers
Under Anne-Claude Leflaive’s guidance, Domaine Leflaive converts entirely to biodynamic viticulture by 1997 – the first major Burgundian estate to do so. This revolutionary move improves vine health and terroir expression, and inspires many other domaines
Passing the Torch
Anne-Claude Leflaive, who led the domaine to legendary status, dies in 2015. Her nephew Brice de La Morandière takes over management, continuing the family legacy into a fourth generation with the same dedication to biodynamic principles and quality

Terroir
24 hectares centered in Puligny-Montrachet, with holdings in four Grand Crus (Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard) and top premier crus including the Clavoillon monopole. All vines are tended biodynamically. The limestone-rich, argillaceous soils fully express themselves through Leflaive's transparent winemaking: low yields, gentle pressing and indigenous-yeast fermentation in oak casks. Each vineyard speaks clearly, from the richness of Bâtard to the racy mineral line of Chevalier-Montrachet.
