About This Producer

Founded in 1844 when Dr. Christopher Rawson Penfold and wife Mary established Magill Estate in Adelaide's foothills. In 1911, built Nuriootpa winery in Barossa Valley to expand production. Max Schubert created Penfolds Grange in the 1950s and launched Bin 707 in 1964 as Australia's first commercial single Cabernet. The estate became the focal point of Australian fine wine in the 1970s. Peter Gago has been Chief Winemaker since 2002. Acquired by Treasury Wine Estates in 2011.
