Giuseppe RinaldiBarolo 'Tre Tine'2012
Giuseppe 'Beppe' Rinaldi was the arch-traditionalist of Barolo, using tall upright oak vats and long maceration while his neighbours chased the modern style. Tre Tine is a blend of fruit from Brunate-Le Coste, two of Barolo's best crus. The 2012 is a warm, generous vintage for Piedmont, showing perfumed rose and tar alongside ripe cherry and firm, grainy tannins. After Beppe's passing in 2018, these bottles have only become more sought-after. Drinking now through 2030.

About This Producer
Giovanni Battista Rinaldi merged his vineyards with those of his wife Ludovica Barale in 1870. The first wines under the Giuseppe Rinaldi label were produced in 1921. In 1947, Giuseppe's son Battista, a trained enologist, took over and acquired the important Cannubi San Lorenzo vineyard. Giuseppe 'Beppe' Rinaldi (fifth generation) assumed control in 1992, maintaining strict traditional methods throughout an era when modern Barolo was in fashion. Beppe passed in 2018; the estate recently added 1.3 hectares in Bussia in 2019.
