Domaine Benoît Ente
Est. 1997
About the Estate
Benoît Ente is one of the smallest and most sought-after producers in Puligny-Montrachet, farming just 4 hectares and producing fewer than 1,500 cases a year across his entire range. Benoît is the younger brother of Arnaud Ente in Meursault. In 1997, at about 30 years old, he left the shared family domaine to establish his own estate, taking over vineyards in Puligny that had belonged to his grandparents and had previously been leased to other growers. Starting essentially from scratch, Benoît focused on parcel-by-parcel improvement and minimal intervention. He and his wife Coralie manage everything themselves, from vineyard to sales. The wines have become cult-status among collectors, though Benoît himself stays understated about it.

Terroir
4 hectares of Chardonnay in the Côte de Beaune, spread across Puligny-Montrachet and small adjacent appellations. The limestone soils of Puligny give the wines their crystalline mineral character, and Ente's low-intervention approach lets that terroir come through cleanly. Yields are naturally low and production is tiny.
