Pierre Duroché

Gevrey-Chambertin 'En Champ'

2018
902 in stock

Bursting with old-vine intensity, the 2018 'En Champ' from Duroché is a vivid and charming Gevrey-Chambertin. It offers cherry compote, cassis, rose petal and truffle on the nose, leading into a succulent medium-bodied palate packed with layered red fruits and a crunchy mineral streak. Finishing long and focused, it showcases the estate's elegant yet energetic style.

About This Producer

The Duroché family established their estate in 1906 in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin. For decades it was a traditional Burgundy family farm that gradually accumulated choice vineyard parcels. The first domaine bottling occurred in 1933 in an old cellar near the village church. In 1955, third-generation vigneron Philippe Duroché moved the winery to its current location at 7 Place du Monument (purchasing a new cellar and putting up the "Domaine Duroché" sign) and that same year acquired a parcel in the grand cru Clos de Bèze. Pierre Duroché, representing the fifth generation, officially joined his father Gilles at the domaine in 2003 and assumed full control in 2005. Since then, Pierre has elevated Domaine Duroché into the Burgundian spotlight, with critics praising the refinement and terroir focus of the wines. He has implemented a number of changes – vinifying all their grapes in-house (previously some were sold to négociants), eliminating herbicides and chemical sprays, and even reintroducing horse plowing on certain sensitive plots. Today, after over 115 years, the domaine remains family-run and continues to quietly build its reputation as a source of superb, classically styled Gevrey-Chambertin.
