Jean-Louis TrapetChambertin Grand Cru2013
Chambertin is one of Burgundy's greatest grand crus, and Trapet's parcel sits in the heart of the climat. The estate was among the first in Burgundy to convert to biodynamics, completing the transition in 1998. The Trapet family has farmed here since the 1870s, when Louis Trapet famously grafted American rootstock by night to save his vines from phylloxera. The 2013 is a cool vintage that produced elegant, perfumed wines: rose petal and tea leaf on the nose, red currant and earthy spice on the palate, with a long, mineral finish. Still youthful and built for the long haul.

About This Producer
The Trapet family has been in Gevrey-Chambertin since the 1870s, when Louis Trapet defied convention by secretly grafting American rootstock to save his phylloxera-ravaged vines, becoming one of the first to do so in Burgundy. Jean-Louis Trapet took full control in 1993 and converted to biodynamic farming by 1998, among the first in the Côte de Nuits. The estate holds parcels in Chambertin and Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru, and the wines emphasise finesse and transparency over power.
