Heritage & Milestones
A journey through time, celebrating the moments that defined our legacy
A Noble Estate
The Ciacci family acquires the 17th-century Palazzo and surrounding estate in 1877. Through marriage it becomes known as Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona, linking the Ciacci name with the noble Piccolomini line
New Chapter with Bianchini
In 1985, the widowed Countess Elda Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona dies without heirs and unexpectedly bequeaths the entire Montalcino estate to Giuseppe Bianchini, her longtime estate manager. This momentous transfer ushers in the modern era of quality winemaking at Ciacci Piccolomini
Family Legacy Continues
Giuseppe Bianchini passes away in 2004, leaving the estate to his children Paolo and Lucia. They continue their father’s work, leading Ciacci Piccolomini to international Brunello prominence while maintaining the estate’s traditional charm.

Vineyard Location
Tuscany, Italy
Terroir
Located in the Castelnuovo dell’Abate zone of southeastern Montalcino, with vineyards on rolling hills at 240–360 m altitude. Soils are a mix of galestro (schist) and marl, ideal for Sangiovese Grosso, and the climate is Mediterranean with a moderating influence from Mount Amiata and the Orcia River. Ciacci’s 40 ha of vines (certified organic) produce Brunellos of both power and elegance – the single-vineyard Pianrosso (from rocky, high-elevation plots) is especially revered for its depth and longevity. The estate also cultivates olives and other crops, reflecting a holistic approach to the terroir of Montalcino’s southern slopes
