Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey

New generation excellence in white Burgundy

Est. 2001

About the Estate

Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is one of the most in-demand white Burgundy producers working today, often mentioned alongside Leflaive and Roulot. Pierre-Yves worked as winemaker at his father Marc Colin's estate in Saint-Aubin from 1994. In 2001 he started a small négociant business on the side, and by 2005 he had left the family domaine to go fully independent, bringing 6 hectares from his own inheritance and additional parcels from his wife Caroline Morey's family (Domaine Jean-Marc Morey). The estate now covers 13 hectares across Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault. His style is distinctive: reductive élevage in 350-litre barrels, no bâtonnage, 18-20 months on lees. The wines show matchstick and flint in youth that blows off to reveal intense minerality and citrus. Sons Mathis and Clément now work at the estate.

Terroir

13 hectares across Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, Santenay and Hautes-Côtes de Beaune. Premier cru holdings include La Châtenière, Champlots, En Remilly, Chenevottes, Caillerets and Abbaye de Morgeot. The limestone-marl soils of the Côte de Beaune give the wines their mineral tension, while PYCM's reductive winemaking amplifies that character.
